CAF Announces 40% Increase In Prize Money For AFCON 2023 Winner

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) has revealed a substantial 40% increase in the Prize Money for the Winner of the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) in Côte d’Ivoire 2023.

According to the announcement, the Winner of the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will now be awarded USD 7,000,000, showcasing a significant boost in financial incentives for the triumphant team.

In addition to the winner’s purse, the Runner-up of the TotalEnergies AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will receive USD 4,000,000.

The reward distribution further extends to the Semi-finalists, with each team in this stage earning USD 2,500,000.

The Quarter-finalists will also benefit, with each of the four teams receiving USD 1,300,000.

Dr Patrice Motsepe, the President of CAF, expressed his satisfaction with the strides made in enhancing the Prize Money for AFCON and other major competitions.

He emphasized the organization’s commitment to the development of football and the well-being of football stakeholders, including Member Associations.

Motsepe stated, “CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the Prize Money of the AFCON and all its other major competitions.

I am confident that a portion of the Prize Money will contribute to developing football and also benefit all the football stakeholders, as well as assist our Member Associations with their administrations.”

The substantial increase in Prize Money not only adds an extra layer of excitement to the AFCON competition but also underscores CAF’s dedication to fostering the growth and prosperity of football on the African continent.

The financial rewards aim to not only celebrate excellence but also contribute to the broader development and sustainability of football across the region.
